New design for 50 unit apartment residence for people with mental health histories. There are three floors of apartments with each floor containing common areas, lounges, counselor offices, laundry and storage.
On the first floor and off the main entrance is the Reception area with administrative offices and the Community Center. The Center is staffed by a third party provider of transitional living services and their functions were integrated into the design.
The site plan was developed to enhance the street front of a major arterial that crosses through a tradional bungalow style neighborhood. The building lines up with the street, varies its facade vertically and there is extensive use of brick along the base for solidity. The Community Center takes on its own character to the left of the facility and it is also positioned adjacent to a garden.
