Barrientos Design provided planning and architectural design services for the Madison Urban League’s 52,000 square foot Center for Economic Development, a new mixed-use facility located on Park Street in Madison, Wisconsin. This diverse, progressive new facility encompasses the Urban League’s 20,000 square foot headquarters, the Center for Economic Development Office’s Workforce Development Shops, a street level retail plaza, healthcare tenant space and work/live apartments.
The building is sited in the out lot of an existing shopping center and directly fronts Park Street for maximum pedestrian interaction. A master plan for the shopping center also envisions a new library and grocery store adjacent to the Urban League’s facility. This dynamic mixed-use building allows the Urban League, a non-profit agency, to partake in equity development and play a key role in the redevelopment of the neighborhood.
