The new digital photography lab at MATC’s downtown Milwaukee Campus involved the conversion of an outdated 1960′s era photography lab into a fully modern and digital studio. At the center of the project is a multi-purpose studio space with a moveable curtain system adapted from theatrical stage design. The curtains can be positioned to allow the room to be used as an entirely open space or be arranged as eight individual studios. Adjacent to the studio space is a storage room with overhead doors to allow the artists to easily maneuver lighting and computer racks into the studios.
The project also includes a prep space for mounting photographs and a fully digital editing studio that also functions as an instructional classroom.
